Synopsis:

Eastern Ontario is bisected by a stunning, natural man made waterway,
the Rideau Canal. Running two hundred kilometers south, from the banks
of the Ottawa River to the shores of Lake Ontario, the Rideau sparks interest
because of its engineering, and in-depth history.

To some the canal is a thing just to go over, go around, or plain ignore.
However, to others it’s a way of life and has been ever since Victorian
times. Nowadays, thousands of people rely on the canal, shaped many
years ago by Colonel By, his men, and the immigrant labourers, many
of whom who lost their lives in the trenches of a safe route for Canada's
army.

Today’s Rideau explores the people and attractions that make the canal
and waterway a popular travel destination for many. The tiny shops, small
village services, and stunning scenery make up a montage of a state treasure
not destroyed by time.

The thirty minute documentary features a cross section of people;
from the citizens who operate the canal, the workers who fix and repair
canvas on vessels, the Captains of the cruise ships for tourists, to the guy
on a boat selling ice cream. They all have their stories more than any film could explore. This is a story of generations; of families, and of the stewardship of a great Canadian resource. This is an interactive fun adventure
in exploration of one canal, Today’s Rideau and how it connects us to
our past.

Currently the production is being distributed along canals at marina's and
small shops in the villages along the canal. For further information or
